July Ride & Race News
The Sunday, July 20th ride was a good time as we explored some nice roads around the Anamosa, Maquoketa and Bellevue area. We stopped by the J & P Cycles store on our way, we were closely watched while there since we represented the rough side of cycle riders! After the ride, we made it back in time to get together with a small group at L.J.’s to watch the MotoGP race later that day.
Saturday, July 26th Troy and I headed over to Blackhawk Farms to get some track time in racing with the MidWest region crew. It was a very nice day and we both had good race results with no issues!! Troy ran 3 races , I ran in 2...

F.A.S.T. guys at Newton's NESBA track day
Andy Miehe, my son C.A. & I went to the Sunday track day in Newton on June 29th. C.A. raced a CBR 600 when they lived in Portland, OR. and had an expert license. He now lives in Florida and no longer competes but does frequent track days at Jennings in northern Florida on his Aprilia SV1000 and 675 Triumph. He rode Andy's SV650 and my DRZ400SM in intermediate sessions and Andy & I rode novice. It rained in the morning and we didn't get out on the track until 10:00 AM.
Nice folks, easy tech and we kept dry in the covered pit garage during the rain. Track was tight, perfect for my 400 single! We had a good time and all picked up speed and lower lap times by days end.
I'd go again, easy drive down, friendly NESBA folks.

A very busy F.A.S.T. weekend
What a busy weekend!
Mike, Jon and Duane got together Sunday and had a nice ride on the twisty roads north of Dubuque on their way to Balltown and checked out the newly opened restaurant there.
Troy, Dave Abbas and I headed to Hastings Nebraska for the race school on Saturday and CCS Great Plains racing on Sunday. The “Smooth Speed School” was a great experience on Saturday as all three of us did the school together with our instructor who is the 2007, #1 plate holder. The last school session was a disaster for me as I have now experienced the dreaded “high side” as I was attempting a pass on one of the last laps before lunch. The bike survived with very minor rash and I’m fine except for some deep tissue bruising on my right side but no broken bones!! I decided to pass on racing Sunday and concentrate on healing up. It’s been a disappointing session for me so far but now I’m focused on getting ready for the Road America rounds in a few weeks so Dave and I were Troy’s pit crew for the Sunday Great Plains races.
Troy competed in three races on Sunday and came away with several hundred dollars of Buell contingency cash!! His finishes were 2nd in Lightweight SuperSport, 2nd in SuperTwins and 4th in Thunderbike. He really ran well, getting his knee down and left alot of folks scratching their heads who were riding 600’s!
Congratulations, Troy!!
This coming weekend is the NESBA trackday at Iowa Speedway in Newton and I think there are a few F.A.S.T. folks heading down to take part so if you wish to participate check out the information at NESBA.com. or just ride down and check it out.

Spring, Slimey Crud Run
Last Sunday's Slimey Crud Run in Pine Bluff and Leland, WI. was a great ride with great weather, finally!!
Ten of us took off from Waterloo, not everyone rode the whole ride but the six of us that did were treated to a nice day with lots of bikes to check out in both towns and some nice roads to ride!
